Hyundai Sonata
Whether it's the Elantra scrapping with the economy
compacts or the Equus trading barbs with encrusted luxo-yachts, Hyundai
seemingly has a fighter in every weight class. Among midsize sedans, the
2012 Hyundai Sonata was the Korean automaker's contender. In prior years,
the Sonata was nothing more than a midpack player, but that all changed with
2010's full redesign, in which the Sonata gained dramatic new styling, new
engines and a revamped interior.
Under the hood was a choice of a powerful 2.4-liter
four-cylinder or, in lieu of a V6, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder.
With 198 horsepower (200 in SE trim), the base engine satisfied just about
everybody, especially when it returned a very impressive 28 mpg combined
when paired with the six-speed automatic transmission. Equally impressive is
the turbo engine, which cranked out 274 hp yet still gets nearly identical
fuel economy estimates.
2012
Jeep Patriot
The 2012 Jeep Patriot was caught between a vision of
Jeep-style off-road authenticity and suburban-style everyday utility. It was
a difficult mix to make, and the process is complicated by the demands of a
low sticker price and high fuel economy.
A car-type unibody platform
like the Patriot's can be made to deliver trail-rated performance, as the
Jeep Grand Cherokee has proven for several decades, so we shouldn't be
surprised to see that the Patriot could be fitted with an optional off-road
option package. It gave this small crossover surprising capability in the
dirt thanks to increased ride height, skid plates and a four-wheel-drive
system complete with a transfer case that has dual-range gear ratios for
low-speed crawling.
2012 Toyota Prius
The 2012 Toyota Prius was to hybrids what Kleenex was
to tissues. Other brands may offer something similar, but the Prius was what
people thought of when they thought "hybrid".

A Smart Used Car Purchase Can Provide Many Years Of Good Service.
Posted May 15, 2013
While the appeal of owning new
vehicles is something that many people can't ignore, it is
not the only option available. There are plenty of reliable
and desirable used cars in the market. You don't have to
sacrifice an arm and a leg just so you can own a brand new
car. In order to increase your
chances of getting the best
ride, you should take your time while looking at what is
available in your local area.
There are
many
places you can start your search. You can look online,
search different classified ad sites, and visit your local
dealers. Before you start looking for the perfect vehicle,
you should make sure you have a good idea of what you want
and need from your vehicle. For example, if you are
concerned about getting the most mileage for your fuel, then
it doesn't make much sense for you to get a gas guzzling
truck. The same goes for if you need a vehicle that has a
ton of space, there is no need for you to get a compact size
vehicle. Grab a piece of paper and jot down what your
expectations are. Once you have completed that list, go
online and start searching for vehicles that meet your
expectations.
Find out which used car lots are
closest to you. When it comes to vehicle shopping, you
should always consider shopping locally first. By supporting
your local car dealers and economy, you are improving the
selection of products the businesses supply for their
customers. You never know when you may want to purchase
another car in the future. Shop locally and you will
have an even better selection of vehicles to choose from the
next time you decide to go car shopping.
Once you have found several cars
that appeal to you online, the next step is for you to go
down to your local used cars dealer. Even though you may
have in mind what you are looking for, you should still take
a look at the other vehicles they have on the lot. Think
about what your price range is. Try not to look at vehicles
that are too far above your budget. It doesn't make much
sense for you to get excited about a vehicle that you can't
afford. Ask permission to take the vehicles you are
interested in for a test run. Keep in mind that a good time
frame for a test drive is twenty to thirty minutes. If you
have quite a few vehicles you want to test, consider doing
some the following day. Don't make any final decisions about
a vehicle purchase until you have had the chance to explore
all of your options. It is not unusual to spend several days
at a used car lot before purchasing anything. Remember, used cars
are just as great to own as new ones. You can still find a
vehicle that provides you with reliable transportation,
compliments your personal style, and helps you make a
statement.
App Claims To Reveal Prices Dealers Pay For Vehicles
Posted April 30, 2013
If you knew what a used car dealer paid for a car that you’re interested in,
wouldn’t that give you a tactical advantage when negotiating a deal?
Of course it would.
Now one self-described used car dealer, who goes by the nom-de-guerre of
Dennis Miller, is letting consumers in on the big secret.
Miller and his colleagues have launched a new app called SnafuScan that
gives prospective buyers information they say has never before been
available to the general public, and could help them win the battle of the
bargain.
“This is an app that gives you the prices that dealers pay for cars at
dealers’ auctions,” Miller, founder and CEO of SnafuScan.com tells
FoxNews.com. “The auction price is much lower than the Kelly Blue Book
price, which reports on the prices of cars as sold to the public. Consumers
have been very much keyed in to the Kelly Blue Book for years.”
According to Miller, most of the used cars at dealerships are bought at
special dealer-only auctions closed to the general public, not directly from
consumers, and the prices paid can be $5,000-$10,000 less than what’s on the
window when you kick the tires.
