Law Enforcement Sponsored Auto Auctions

The U.S. Marshals Service in the District of New Mexico raised $100,600 in
less than 30 minutes at an auto auction of seized vehicles on Friday, the
marshals service said in a news release.
The 15 vehicles seized by the FBI and DEA because of illegal activities were
auctioned
 off at Dugger Services in Albuquerque by Apple Towing Company.
A 1987 Cadillac sedan sold for just $300, and a 2003 Dodge Dakota went for
$1,400 in what the marshals service called the “steals of the day.”
A 2007 Harley Davidson Fat Boy with very low mileage was sold for $11,100,
and a 2004 Peterbilt Tractor Trailer Truck brought $29,000, and seven of the
items went for less than $2,000, according to the release.
Proceeds from the auctions are used to compensate crime victims and to fund
law enforcement initiatives, and funds are often shared with the law
enforcement agencies that participated in investigations leading to the
forfeiture of assets, the release said.
Auto auctions sponsored by law enforcement can be very fruitful to buyers
looking to find a steal.
Salvation Army Needs Cars For June Auto Auction

Augusta - The Salvation Army of Augusta needs about a
dozen cars in order to hold its June 1 Auto Auction.
Auto Auction coordinator, Retired Major Shirley Suarez,
says "We currently have an inventory of 28 vehicles, but we really need at
least 10-12 more to
 raise the amount of money it will take to sustain the
Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Program throughout the summer."
Since 2002, The Salvation Army Auto Auction has been
one of the organization's largest fundraisers of the year. Proceeds from the
auction directly support social services for those in need in the Greater
Augusta Area, specifically the 9-month residential Drug and Alcohol
Rehabilitation program.
Each person who donates a vehicle will receive a free,
3-month Individual Gold Membership to The Salvation Army Kroc Center.
Donations are tax-deductible and free pick up is available. Vehicles do not
have to be running to be donated.
